While I'm off enjoying my vacation I'm thrilled that I have some interesting guest posts for you! As some of you may know I'm a huge fan of Stacy from The Lacquerie. Her work is stunning and today she's sharing her thoughts on collages.
Inspired by everything around me, I realize how lucky I am to have this creative outlet. I can get so involved in projects and totally lose myself for hours, completely forgetting to check in with reality. It’s my way of decompressing. Quieting the noise in my head and detaching from the rest of the world. I couldn’t even fathom life without art! My little escape that’s always there, just waiting for me to dive in and zone out.
Art for me, especially collage, is like putting together a puzzle. I wait for the pieces to speak to me, telling me what to do next, and this continues on like a dialogue. The idea begins to grow from a few scraps of paper or a particular color palette, swirling around my thoughts. Then it's like shapes take on a life of their own; I simply bring them together.
Some might consider this only a hobby, but if you eat, sleep and breathe art, it must be something more. I literally wake up with this passion to create…something…anything. It’s like I have too many ideas, and never enough time. But the desire to create is always a driving force.
Without further explanation, always try to do more of what you love.
