I'm beyond excited to host my first ever linkup with Sandra from Raincoast Cottage. We dreamed big when we created our collaborative series and tossed around the idea of a linkup. I honestly didn't think we would build momentum this fast and I'm pleasantly surprised with how much fun the foliophoto series is.
New to foliophoto? Are you looking for a way to add unique content to your blog? Are you an amateur photographer trying to create a portfolio? Do you love instagram and want to take your photo skills to the next level? Do you have access to a camera – be it iPhone, DSLR, a regular point and shoot, or even old school film? If you said yes to any of these questions the foliophoto series might be perfect for you!
Sandra from the Raincoast Cottage & bedsidesign teamed up in the beginning of 2013 with a similar goal in mind – to practice photography on a weekly basis. We brainstorm what we call a “prompt” each week to interpret however closely or imaginatively as we would like. We use the tools already in our hands – whatever cameras we have access to and work on ways to convey this imagery. On Tuesdays at 9 am EST we publish our photos with a brief description of our prompt and indicate what tools, filters, and cameras we used to capture the image.
As a way to engage others [who may not be bloggers] we also created a flickr group where you can upload your picture and converse with others who are participating. Another way to share your photography is through instagram using the hashtag #foliophoto. Please make sure to tag #foliophoto if you are tweeting so we can follow the conversation.
How to link up:
At 9am EST on Tuesdays we will announce the prompt for the next week as well as provide a linkup via linkytools. If you are a blogger and participating you can link your blog post to the project by visiting bedsidesign – the linkup hosting blog – and you can grab the code for your blog so that the other blogs involved will be visible in the linkup. This weeks linkup is at the bottom of this post!
You can upload your photo to the flickr group foliophoto.
You can upload your photo on instagram with the hashtag #foliophoto
If you have any questions at all please feel free to contact me.
We would love for you to participate and join our community of creatives trying to make better art.
prompt: black + white
subject: a collection of black & white items photographed in black & white. I love how all of the items are glossy and the shadows that each creates. In case you are not familiar with the instrument, it is a melodica.
Camera: Sony NEX-5 | set to black & white
Next week's prompt? Artificial. Should be an interesting one!
P.S. Don’t forget to check out Sandra from the Raincoast Cottage’s foliophoto image for “Black & White" & check out the others participating!
