Last week we celebrated Ian's birthday. When I asked him what he wanted to do he told me, "go thrifting, eat some good food and enjoy the weather." I smiled - a man after my own heart! We started celebrating the day before with a thrifting date. I scored some awesome finds including the skirt you'll see below. On the day of his birthday we ventured out to Wading River.
We visited Lewin Farms in the fall and we were excited to return to go strawberry picking! We never picked strawberries (or anything other than apples) together so we really wanted to document our experience. It was the middle of the week and only ten to fifteen other people were picking in the fields. We took our time - partly because it was 90 degrees and the other reason was we just talked the whole time. I dreamed about having our own garden when we have a home and how proud we would be of the things that we grow. Everything felt like time was standing still. It felt like it was just the two of us surrounded by some seriously delicious strawberries, the sun, and each other. I think my cheeks hurt from smiling so hard.
After we picked a bunch of strawberries we ate at Avo - a Mexican restaurant down the road. I loved the papel picado decor and the tacos were super affordable. What we've learned is you don't always have to have big days - fancy restaurants, big presents (although he's getting a new iPhone), or busy days. We enjoy the little things in life like being outside picking strawberries.
If you live on Long Island check out Lewin Farms!
